ARE YOU BARREN?

Something new dawn on me while studying the Book of Matthew 13:12 and I would like to share. Let the wise read and increase in wisdom.

Matthew 13:12; “Whoever has will be given more, and he will have abundance. Whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him”
Perhaps you have come across this particular Bible verse and you ask yourself why should someone who does not have be taken away from and the one who has enough be given more?

Jesus was actually talking about fruitfulness. When we talk about being fruitful or fruitfulness, the first or perhaps the only thing that comes to the mind of many is the material thing – Having enough material possession.

God sees it far beyond that. Most importantly, he sees it in a productive life bearing fruits of righteousness. Though he will be blessed with material possessions (perishable things), but more importantly to God is that such life is laying up resources in heaven for the kingdom benefits.

The first part of the above texts says “Whoever has will be given more, and he will have abundance…” Why? He is living a productive life for the kingdom benefits. He is not just a sitter who sits with what has been committed into his hand, but a mover who goes about trading with his talent for the kingdom good. Such person the Book of John says, “God Prunes” so that he bears more and more. Each time you bear fruits with whatever God has placed in your hands, you increase your worth in heaven. You become more relevant.

The second part of the texts says; “Whoever does not have, even what he has (i.e what he has been given and he refuses to bear fruits with it) will be taken from him”.

God hates fruitlessness. In fact, the first word God said to man in the beginning was “BE FRUITFUL...” (Gen. 1:28). He hates people who has been given and refuse to increase with it. Whatever you have been given is not for people to hail or praise you but to make something out of it – to bear fruits.
This second set of people I call SITTERS. They are uncommitted to the course God has placed in their hands. They serve God conveniently and as a result do not increase.

This is what God says about this kind of people in Luke 3:9;
“The axe is already at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire”.

A fruitless man in God’s sight is of no relevance in the kingdom agenda. He is never recognized because he has be rejected and abandoned. We have been appointed to bear fruits – a lasting one (John 15:16).

Bear Fruits today, bear it tomorrow and never stop bearing it.
